What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

ELO, The Essential ELO; a phenomenal singles machine. A giddy (and fully caffeinated) joy pervades the drawing room at stately Hazen manor...

Not sure about this new one. Less variation than in Black Cherry/Felt Mountain. Still a decent listen though.

lcd soundsystem rocks though and just having a 1st listen to The Juan Maclean - Less than Human after it dropped through the post box this morning. Sounding good so far...

Janis Joplin - Pearl: The recent re-issue.

CD2 has some material either previously unreleased or burried under other material.

Amongst the most lo-fi I've ever heard, but...

Boy, does she rock ! 100 percent energy in (eg) "Summertime" or "Cry Baby". CD1 also has a "demo" version of "Me & Bobbie McGee". Phew ! What a shame she'd died just a couple of weeks later...

Excellent sample for people that prefer listening to music instead of their system

cheers

Good old Amazon of course, just looking at dimitri one and I would say the contrasts in music are probably quite diverse, but still good all the same. What is the Dimitri mix like, is it very 70's? how would you describe it?.
I always think Felix's music is very say supermodel catwalk music but he has his own distinct sound which I quite like.

Link BTW AMAZON Winker

Just brought a new record from the record store, just put it into the CDP, pressed play and magiii...

Ranee Lee and Oliver Jones together again for our greatest delight on "Just You, Just me" from Justin Time label.

It's a very good CD to relax with, and my first impression about it is that it will turn as an instant classic. You like great jazz singers? You like great jazz piano? Get them both on a single record, this is my personnal recommendation to you. Winker

Bye.
