What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Dear Haim!
A great record!
Hope it'll amuse you!

It is 9 P.M. and I am finally sitting down. I arrived home late, had to cook dinner for the wife and daughter and later on had to sit on the tractor and mow the grass which has been growing so fast that you would think that we were living here on the Nile's delta.

My father says he's going to buy some sheeps.
Our Deere is a great machine but after the first rounds you get as drunk!

The sun went down and I had to turn the tractor's lights on. I had no choice but finish the mowing tonight since tomorrow, after work, I am staying in town andgoing to an Irish Pub on the North side of Chicago to listen to Fred Simon play piano.
Hope evrything is fine with you.[/QUOTE]

Got home at 18.00.

On a record?

Alas, no.

Unfortunately, most of my music collection is on cd.

Why "alas" and "unfortunately" ?

It's about music not the medium.

Very true indeed. Totally mis-worded on my part. Roll Eyes

Easy groove for a sunny day/evening

Now

Feeling mellow after cooking a fine meal with the wife, and enjoying a few bottles of wine.

It is 10 P.M. and I am just back from the city. Tonight I had the pleasure to meet Fred Simon in person and hear him play at Mrs. Murphy's & Sons Irish Bistro.
It was two great hours of Fred's piano playing and company (when he took a break and we had a good talk).

Fred, thank you very much. I am looking forward to hear next time your musician wife as well.

Regards

Haim

After Simon in the car:

Posted on: 05 May 2006 by HR
Before Simon, on the 555/525/500:

At ProMusica, on Ken's machine, one of the only two 555 players that are currently in the US now. Sounded almost as good as on my NAIT/CD 3.5.

Ken gave a very interesting talk about his recording philosophy, his sound engineering master's class that he is teaching in the store and music in general. Ended up buying three NAIM Cds. They are much cheaper than any 555...

Good night,

Haim

Love her voice.
'Ainda Lembro' is a pretty tune. Highly recommended.

Brian Matthew's Sounds Of The 60's on R2. This is really a little gem of a show tucked away early Saturday morning. Since the demise of Danny Baker, there is nowhere else to hear Motown, Stax and psychedelia at this time of the morning. Sure, there's a fair bit of Cliff, Lulu etc... but this morning he's played John Martyn, Cream and Love.
