What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

kuma,

oh my god...i had no idea my speakers could reproduce bass like that. yoga for the drivers. i also discovered the volume knob. my poor new windows. excellent stuff - this will definately be under heavy rotation. i'm a novice when it comes to electronica. a top ten list of albums or artists would be appreciated.

Woo Hoo Corey!
You've discovered the Hello Nightclub?!
Isn't it just GREAT!?

A top ten?
there are just too many artists that I like.

Let me think about that!

Jurassic Five's *Power in Numbers* is a fine start. Smile

George Duke - I remember him from the '70s when he was in Frank Zappa's Mothers. Some great keyboards on Overnight Sensation, Apostophe and Roxy & Elsewhere, and even a writing credit on Uncle Remus (very unusual on a Zappa album). Frank was certainly a great guy for selecting musicians, I saw George live once as part of The Mothers and he was fantastic.

Yet another artist to put on the list of ones I must checkout.

Best regards, Rotf

Tommy Bolin era DP.
The traditionalists would not approve of this album.
Too funky. Smile

ROTF,

You and I are the few who probably old enough to remember George Duke played with Zappa.
Ditto on Zappa's ability to mine a good talent as well as *re*discover the old one. ( i.e. David Raksin )
He always had an excellent taste.

One of these days, I want to hear Duke live, tho.

On George Duke

"Illusions" is one of my fav test discs. Every track has a different tonal effect and style.

Mr Duke seems to pay a lot of attention to getting quality recordings.

"Is Love enough"
"Muir Woods Suite"
"Gaurdians of the Light"

are worth looking for

Gianluigi very good morning.

No, I do not have this Schubert, though I love the photograph of it already. I had to get up before sunrise to fertilize the yard, and I just came out of the shower. The coffee and the sunday paper are ready, and I am going to play Veracini Sonatas to start the day (a great trio with John Holloway playing the violin):

Regards,

Haim
