What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

I've been on a Dave Holland kick lately. Really enjoying this one. I like his small group work with vibes as the main rhythm instrument.

I have stumbled across the Ramsey Lewis Trio playing a jazz version of the 'love theme' from the film Spartacus. I have never heard of this trio before (I am woefully ignorant about jazz)and it just reminds me to look into jazz a bit more as I am sure there must be truckloads of stuff I would like if I did but make an effort.

Harvest Storm by Altan (again)
Can anybody tell me: are all their albums this good or is this the stand out one?
This is absolutely superb music, well recorded and exceptionally well played.

The Magic Bullet Band - great new band (supporting Kula Shaker on their tour) saw them last night at Norwich Waterfront.
In 30 years of going to gigs, this is the first supporting band I have ever positively enjoyed. And the crowd went wild.
Influences include The Band, Credence Clearwater, Neil Young, the Blues...
They've got a bit more 'beef' to their sound than the sample suggests... But see:

Impressive - I can hear the Creedence influence coming through and as CCR are one of my favourite bands, I see nothing wrong with that.

Hi Haim!
How are you?
Are you going to replace the cdp.
Bad thing when it doesn't work.
I hope you're not closed in the car listening to music, are you?

Anne clark... Reminds me of a concert in a Kaiserslautern discothek, back in the 80's when she was playing in front of 80-100 people...

Fat Lady Sings - Twist
one of the best albums of unrequited love I know.
Irish band from early 90's. never had the success they deserved.
