What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Moving swiftly on...
Very much like the Cinematic Orchestra.
Quote (from the sleeve)
'The original monophonic recordings have been electronically enhanced by a brilliant 2 channel effect for today's stereo phonographs'

Hello Stefan
It is also very well recorded to. I keep meaning to buy Emiliana other album.I feel a little late night shopping is needed. It is a great shame that many people have missed out on this great album.

PS: Huw, I've re-connected the Maggies, currently. First impression was positive, but evening hours brought back shock / horror. Not a final verdict, but I'm afraid somebody else will enjoy these great speakers, soon...

Currently listening to book 1 of the Well Tempered Clavier, Helmut Walcha at the Harpsichord. Why this wonderful set isn't available in the UK is beyond me. Anyone who doubts Bach should be played on the harpsichord should here this.

i hope he likes it. i opened my big mouth and proclaimed Guamba to be my favorite "jazz" album. i love it so much because i feel it beautifully transcends musical boundaries and labels, and still as sounds fresh today as it did over a decade ago when i first heard it. hence the quotation marks around "jazz" - i have a hard time calling it anything other than RFGM (really fcuking great music). it's a "perfect album" in the sense that it is "complete", with a beginning and an end. i have but a few of these in my modest collection.
while i contemplate a headphone upgrade.

A day which went west: Bach and more of the great man's works. Just finished the Goldbergs, played by Walcha.
Off to do all the things I should have this morning...
