What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Smooth lyrics, skanking rythms, bouncy reggae vibes, soulful horns, whats not to like! Buy this album, you'd have to be dead not to love it.

A great way to finsh off a day of good listening - Steve Hackett - To Watch the Storms particularly the wonderful Serpentine track

Followed by the newly remastered version of Voyage of the Acolyte -the sound quality is amazing and this release includes a 17 minute version of Shadow of the Hierophant - fab.

Dear Gianluigi,

Let him down off his cafiene high before he answers that!

Myself, I have just listened to the C Minor Concerto of Mozart for Piano and Orchestra - No 24. Haskil, with Markevitch.

I always think this is like a lava flow. Maybe relatively coll on the surface in parts, but absolutely molten at the core. Amazing music.

All the best from Fredrik

Gianluigi,

How are you? Long time no talk to you.

The oven and coffee maker work perfectly. The 3.5 skipps like twice or three times a disc, and sometimes it stops from playing. It has a doctor appointment on Tuesday.

Regards,

Haim

Dear Haim!
I'm here tryin' to tame the little wild one!

I'm sorry for your player!
It's always a bad day when they start missing clusters.
I hope they'll fix it because 3.5 is a very good cdp.

Something new in the shelf?

Dear Haim,

So am I, but I ruined my Mocka pot this week, by pouring the coffee when the phone went, and putting the pot back on the hot-plate, which was still on, and had an hour talking! Black as ink, and all the rubber seal melted into the metal filter parts.

Never mind! ATB from Fredrik

You mean besides dust?
Nothing real new though I am enjoying very much Corelli's Violin Sonatas OP 5 played by Andre Manze which arrived two weeks ago.

It looks like the skipper wants a new transport, but I am not sure. I am going to ask them to give me a 555 as a loaner..

In the Schmendrick, at noon, before and after my 4Ks run:

A meeting by the River / Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt / Water Lily Acoustics

Good title, since I run a long a river.
Very good music to unwind and go back to my normal breathing.

Run was very difficult. You go one way and everything is fine. You turn around and there is this ferocious cold wind blowing in your face. It felt like I was in a differnt country. Next time I am going to take my passport with me.
