What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Superb record - it is my CD player too. I just keep returning to this album.

Up & Down - Milcho Leviev and Dave Holland. A nice light hearted pairing of bass and piano, a perfect way to go into the evening.

What's this like? I was just listening to some Japan the other day but have not heard any of Sylvian's solo stuff.
Hi Diccus!
Sylvian's solo album are very good.
Brilliant Trees, Secret of the Beehive and Gone to earth are my favourites and i feel to suggest the purchase.
You'll not regret!
There are the new remastered editions now available!
Cheers
Gianluigi
Thank you very much sir.

I'd list the same three David Sylvian albums as jcs_smith. I liked Rain Tree Crow a lot as well, which wasn't solo.
Listening to a longtime favorite: Don Juan's Reckless Daughter (Joni Mitchell) , especially sides 1 and 4. Trying to get an idea how the new cartridge handles it. The bass is a bit too light. Does bass increase when a cartridge is run in?

You know, that was one of the reason for buying this, Wagner has never floated my boat at all. Too much shouting and not enough beauty in my VERY limited exposure. But I'd be happy discover I've been wrong and what I've been missing.

Testing the woofers with Bob Marley's Exodus.
Next on the list if I can find the courage is the Testament release of Wagner's Siegfried set under the directon of Joseph Keilberth from 1955. Maybe I'll just look at the booklet a while longer...
