What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

You are right about that.

Not heard Meddle, have to excuse my ignorance rasher!

Throught the door today:

Absolutley superb. Downtempo at its very best.

This continues where Zero 7 left off with 'When It Falls'

Hey Jasons and Rasher (and anyone else!)

Which album is that second one (reddish cover). I used to have 'Chill Out' on cd but it got stolen. Still got it on a cassette with 'Space' on the back though!

Right now, I'm listening to...

Spiritualized - Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space. Surely the best packaging ever on a cd.

All the best,

Nicholas

Hi Nic,

Not sure which cover you are refering to.
If you use the quote button on the post with the cover then it will come up on your post and we will know what you are talking about.

Chill out is very much still available from Amazon.

Peace...

just listened to this.
Very good indeed.
My system sounds bloody good or this is a great record, perhaps both methinks.

Intense.

Jason - I meant the album that Munch has just 'quoted' with the out of focus spots. I admit it's more bluish than reddish!

(Memo to self - learn how to use the quotation thing!)

Thanks for trying to help me out with it, and for the Amazon tip.

On the decks - LCD Soundsystem - Tribulations, just turned into Soulwax - KracK. Staying in on a Friday night - hours of fun!

David,

Do you have their previous albums?

If so, how do you think this compares to them?

I was really looking forward to this when it came through the door and, although there are a couple of good tracks, i feel the majority dont seem to have the emotion of their earler works.

And im sure your system does sound bloody good. Big Grin

Oh I get it now, the 'only good album the KLF ever made' bit was erm... irony(!)

Thanks Munch! Only got DSOTM and Wish You Were Here myself - I'm at beginner's level when it comes to the Floyd.

Time to take it easy with some Ulrich Shnauss - A Strangely Isolated Place.

All the best,

Nicholas

I have Simple things.

I do think that I somewhat taken by new sounds.

However I do find that this is a more dynamic album. I have recently found the Jose Gonzallez album to my liking which has no doubt helped.

Have you got when it falls ?

Hi David,

I do have When It Falls and i feel that this, again is a step further on from Simple Things.
These are fantastic albums which i very much enjoy listening to quite frequently.

I must say that Jose Gonzales ( i also have his recent cd) on a couple of the tracks really does work very well indeed. I just feel that the others are more 'fillers' if you will.

If you like the Zero 7 sound then try Urban Myth Club - "Helium".

Hi Stefan!
Is it so bad?

Not bad, at all, Gianluigi. In fact, I think YOU should have a listen. (as a David Sylvian fan). But: Disturbing. Shattering. Moving. Which isn't bad. But after an overall bad week, I'm looking for different sensation...

cheers

The Skipnick 3.5 is back today with a new transport, two new driver chips, a software update and a free new puck. It hasn't been hooked up yet.

Listening to Short Story, Fred Simon on piano on an LP from 1984. Just the music I need.

Regards,

Haim
