What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Just finished listening to:
.....
Carole King - Tapestry - no comment worthy!
.....
It doesn't get much better than that - one of my all time favourite elpees
I like this one better.![]()
I picked it up yesterday.
If it is better than Tapestry then I've got to check it out.

This album is actually better than the Time Out.
Each tune has an interesting tempo change.
A short piece called 'unsqure dance' is unusual in that it plays in a 7/4 time.

The Great Prelude and Fugue in C Minor of Bach. Helmut Walcha in Cappel.
Here is a good photo of him, but slightly later in Alkmaar:
Again, I think it may be possibly to find some of his seriousness of purpose in this picture.
All the best from Fredrik

To celebrate one of the most warm days of the season.

Earlier, some lovely (if rather stark) Bach Preludes and Fugues on the Organ including the fantastic C Minor Fantasy and Fugue, and the phenomenal A Minor and B Minor Preludes and Fugues!
Then a Divertimento in D of Mozart, Brandenburg Number Three, and next up, the Holberg Suite of Greig.
Tremendous listening for an almost too Hot Saturday afternoon... The String Music is in private recordings with your's truly as the bassist! Not bad either when I put my critical barrier down a tad.

No worries - it has been getting quite a lot of air time here. Could this be the future, downloadable files only and with the listener choosing the replay medium?
Happy listening!

David Gilmour - On An Island - Great sound quality though it's one of those albums I'll have to listen through a couple more times before reaching conclusions on the lyrical content.
One day it would be great if one of you kind folks would let me know the secret of presenting the album covers. Perhaps you could e-mail me at peter-dot-smyth-at-btinternet-dot-com?
By the way Geoff, major confession coming up on your old NHS thread - guess I should have called for an ambulance!!

So far,
Wilco: YHF
Incubus: Morning View
The latter seems to have stimulated the next door neighbours into playing some tunes too. Oh well
