What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

cheers

Stefan,
Here is my latest, unfinished story with JPC. You can start from the bottom:
Gudrrun, hi again.
Delivery 005 has never arrived.
Therefore, I could not have send you back anything from that shipment, though you sent me a letter crediting me for CD 9703438 which I supposedly returned to you.
Again: I did not received any of the 005 CDs and I did not send any CD back to you. Please check your records again.
The only CD I received from you in the last three months is #5796721 Wheeler, K which arrived by itself two weeks ago as delivery 006.
I hope the matter will clear soon.
Please keep me posted.
Regards,
Haim
Hello Haim,
now I am a bit confused: On 06-16-06 we've received CD 9703438 from you.
This CD was contained in delivery 005.
So I think delivery 005 arrived after all?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards
Gudrun Pusch

Gudrun hi,
I still did not receive my order no 5 which you sent a month ago. I
never had to wait for an order that long. Do you have a mean to track
your shipments?
Please keep me posted.
Regards,
Haim
Hello Haim,
thank you for your e-mail.
It is oddly but not so unusual when one packet is overtaking the one
which
has been sent earlier.
I am sure delivery 005 will arrive in the next few
days.
Best regards
Gudrun Pusch

Dear Tam,
After the arthritis cut in, I gave up my freelance commitments (the last of which was Haydn's Creation - BFCS), the best of which was the Birmingham Festival Choral Society (first performences of Gerontius and Elijah for example, but before my time!), and carried on with a group of music teachers and ex CBSO types! This was styled the Volante Strings. I have not had the heart to enquire how they are doing since I left. My last concert saw me in convulsions in the last tem minutes (in the Saint Paul's Suite of Holst), but more significantly the Third Brandenbeg Concerto, where the adrenalin ran like the Devil, and I played almost like I never had before for a quarter of an hour!
I nned to be fairly sanguine to listen to these, as there is great and terrible side by side! You will need to visit me to sample these!
I have so much to do, and no inclination to do it! Fredrik!!!

Well - today has been about discovering speakers, I'm in the process of doing demo's on about every set my dealer has. The ones I have now are awful, come Monday I'll have some Naim's - let's hope for a happier Steve then!

Wow, that's sad...
I have had the first ever JPC order going wrong, last week. With 1-3 orders every week. (I'm only using amazon "in emergency", because they srew up ever so often, and behave very unflexible, then).
In a package invoicing three CD's there were only 2. I wrote an email that evening, receiving an answer early next morning, and the missing CD the day after that.
Odd...

Stefan,
It is more like an Agatha Christie mystery. My alibi is that during the time of the crime (returning something I have never received) I was in Israel, and therefore unable to commit it.
Where is Hercule when we need him?
Anyway, I am going to wait for the matter to clear before I order again from JPC.

Haim

Fiuuuuuuuuu!
Haim!
I did think i was the only one that had problems with JPC.
I placed only one order that took about 2 months the reach me and for about 2 months my credit card got blocked "because the institute could not accept my details" so all the money i was filling in got reserved again and again to pay them.
There were a CD missing in the lot and, at last, they told me it was unvailable.

I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson's films, not least because they tend to have excellent soundtracks (though this one isn't quite so fine as that of The Royal Tenenbaums).
I suspect you'll approve more of BWV533 which Walcha is currently playing for me.

I went to run my 4Ks at noon (93 degrees and a ferocious wind) and almost did not return. But then I remembered that the France-Brazil game was going to start pretty soon and I made the effort.
Perfect music for pre-game. Sung in French with influence of Brazilian Samba. I failed to find though any Fado music sung in English for the earlier game.
Regards,
Haim

Cool music for a hot and windy afternoon. After a run and two soccer games, before putting the salmom steaks on the fire (we have a guest tonight).
I was talking soccer with the man in the fish department in the Supermarket. He was so happy to learn that Brazil had lost that he gave me an extra steak for free. So Stefan, Gian, interested in a grilled salmon?. They are huge. Dinner is served on the screened porch in 50 minutes.
