What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

O.K. Gian,
You prefer movies on our company...(it wasn't even music). Well I recommend Infernal Affairs which on top of being a very good movie it features in it a great sound system that the bad guy owns.
Starting Sunday morning with:

Handel / Recorder Sonatas / Petri, Jarrett / RCA
Regards,
Haim

Cool music for a hot and windy afternoon. After a run and two soccer games, before putting the salmom steaks on the fire (we have a guest tonight).
I was talking soccer with the man in the fish department in the Supermarket. He was so happy to learn that Brazil had lost that he gave me an extra steak for free. So Stefan, Gian, interested in a grilled salmon?. They are huge. Dinner is served on the screened porch in 50 minutes.
Haim
You make my heart bleed, Haim

At least, I'm sharing music (see abvove) with you, if it can't be the Salmon...
cheers
Stefan

Steve,
Despite its sadness, I could listen to Fado any time. Here is a very special Fado:

Stefan, good and quiet morning (our guest is still asleep and I am very careful with the volume).
We shall do Salmon together, but in the meantime we can share:
Best regards,

To cheer me after the drepessing events of this World Cup, I put on some music by the greatest rock and roll band in the land.
1966 And All That, I Was A Teenage Armchair Honved Fan and All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit.
It's good to forget the football once in a while and just sing along.
we sat and decided as the seaons collided
that our love was fairly utopian
if it wasnt for my pills, my psychiatric bills
and your unreliable fallopian
then i guess wed be fine
embraced on cloud nine
emotionally impossible to sever
you turn around quickly and ever so sickly
i tell you id love you forever
If only youd give me my Lev Yashin poster back
six months ago i returned your brown anorak
but you keep forgetting
and its far too upsetting
so baby Ferenc Puskas to you, to you
Baby Ferenc Puskas to you
Think I'll play Mathematically Safe and Dead Men Don't Need Seasons Tickets that'll help me forget.

I hope number 14 was uber cheerful - Nebraska is as serious as it gets - if you aren't in the right mood, the thought of listening to it would be daunting to say the least!!

Can't believe you have THIS, Haim !
Has been one of my far most favorite jazz albums (unfortunately Freeman developped into a direction I couldn't follow - unlike his father's development !) Have the vinyl version since - uhm - 1975ish, and the CD for quite some years, now...
spooky,
Stefan
