What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

However, this is one Underworld album i dont own.

Another one for the 'to buy' list.
Thanks Kuma.

Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain.
I seem to play this a lot late at night, sounds particularly amazing tonight for some reason!

Nic,
Have you listened to his solo piano?

Haim,
I finally got round to getting a copy of the Man From Plovdiv by Milcho Leviev, which has had about half a dozen plays to date. It is astonishing to think that they are all "100% impromptu" apart from one track. The sound really fills the room.
Now waiting for the other things ordered at the same time from Sloop's Jazz Query thread
Thanks Haim

Enjoying one of my birthday presents. If I were splitting hairs I might suggest that in 2006 DG might be expected to do a better job in terms of recording quality. Musically pretty fine, but a little sluggish and nothing to the recent Mackerras efforts. But then I would say that, wouldn't I [smiley].

Jason,
Do you have the *kittens* in a CD single?
This tune is a hoot and it must be played loud.

Matt,
You are clearly a lot braver than I am. Despite being a big fan of Coltrane, this is one that gets played rarely because it is so difficult to get through.
