What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Unusual choice you have there with the 'Toys' soundtrack? Great film tho.

It's a compilation of the *songs* more than soundtrack.

I do like the title theme *closing of the year*.
Somewhat of a cornball inspiring holiday tune with lots of chorus.
t's fitting for the 'wall of sound' Briks.

Moving right along. Adam Freeland, next.

Right click on your chosen album cover. Left click 'Copy Image location'. Then in the Naim message box then left click on 10th button (with a picture on it). It opens up a small box, right click under Image location and then click ok. That should sort you.

Hope this wasnt too patronising. Smile

Good luck

Brahms 4 from Boult and the LPO, excellent stuff so far (and if your reading Fredrik, makes me wonder if the reason I didn't appreciate 2&3 in the same way as I did one, and from the sounds of it will 4, might have been that I wasn't in prime listening mood after faffing around with airlines and the like - I shall dig that disc out again tomorrow).

regards, Tam

edit - wonderful, wonderful stuff. My only complaint - too little of a gap before the Haydn variations. But that's a minor quibble for a magnificent reading of this symphony.

Another Brahms 4, this time from Sir Charles Mackerras and the SCO, live from the 2003 Edinburgh festival. Wonderful stuff, though quite different (I think the octane is a little lower than Boult - how I wish they'd taped his performances with the Philharmonia last year...).

Sounding particularly fine in this muggy night - we need a good thunderstorm to clear the air. 27C today and the Scots are melting!
