What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Bach "Brandenburg concerts 1-6/Musical offering" by Linde Consort. Sublime! The best Brandenburg concert recording I have heard so far. I hope it will be re-issued in the (near) future.

Isn't that strange.
About an hour ago I was listening to the Sixth Concerto from that very set.
Absolutely the top set! Two other favourites of mine are the venerable and unotainable set from 1950 and 1953 played by the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis with August Wenzinger, and the set recorded by Adolf Busch with his Chamber Players for EMI Columbia 78s, which is splendidly transfered on Pearl!
All the best from Fredrik
Just lstened to the Haydn Clock Symphony with Colin Davis leading. Very fine music for a head still suffering a little from last night!!!! [Smiley].

He,he, I prefer chamber music too, but some orchestral music is so good, that you have to hear it.

pe-zulu,
I am afraid I am a lost cause. In most cases I find those guys with their annoying batons (I think you call them Maestros) to be part of the CCP force.

Such nice, relaxing music from Ry Cooder and V.M. Bhatt. Even more amazing that they met for the first time only a half-hour before the recording of the album

Gian,

Did your father had to pull some strings, or was it an intervention of Berlusconi who assured the Italian nation that it was safe enough to give you so much time off...?
Anyway, enjoy them all and don't forget to write.
