What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Cheikh Lo "Ne La Thiass" from Senegal. Nice Sunday morning music after a tough festival weekend. Sadly Amadou et mariam cancelled their concert due to illness.

Haydn symphonies 94 and 101 by Jochum and LPO (DG). I must say I like his approach very much as well. Especially I liked the 94th symphony.

Dear Gianluigi,
I am so glad to read that!
I am listening through my newly altered set with total amazement. All I have done today was listen to it grow into something so fine. In fact while it is warming up it is hard to ignore just how nice it is.
I am just settling down to the Brandenbergs from old Bach after Sibelius Seven, live under Boult. The Brandenbergs are the set made by HM Linde, and it is scandal that these modern recordings are not available! What is wrong with EMI? They could be making money out a superb reading!
Ah well! At least I have them and they are bound to be available again. When they come out, I will be sure to advise the purchase of them!
Happy listening dear Gianluigi! Fredrik
