What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I'm playing Solomon Burke Don't give up on me, while here at the shop setting up an LP12 and posting in the Hi-Fi Corner.

This collection by the top-notch flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia. Really good music! He will come to play a concert in Oslo 1st of November, and I wonder whether to go (it's quite expensive). Anybody heard him in concert?

A great album - at least we have a shared reference for CD replay, need to find something on vinyl.

Was listening to Café Creole by Amanda, which has never sounded better. If anyone is looking for some Voodoo tunes sung by a Swedish acapella group, then you need look no further. The version of Mercy Street is also pretty special.

About to give I Visionari a spin.

Ryan Adams "Gold". A good album with some very good songs now and then. And that's generally the problem of Ryan Adams. His productivity is too high and the quality control is relaxed. Instead of 8 good albums, he could have made 4 close to superb albums.

The king and inventor of New York Latin Soul, Joe Bataan, on the label Fania. Fantastic music and it really makes me want to party, but I guess I have to choose bed instead...

I guess I have to do with one of the cigars I bought on Cuba earlier this summer and a beer. At least it was rock'n roll all night long last weekend in Oslo when we had a 3 day musical festival nearby Smile.

Hi Stefan,
it's interesting, but I need to tune myself into the vocalist.

Went from Bollani to the L'Archibudelli playing Schubert, it is HIP so may not be to everybody's taste but I love it.

Stefan,

You have at least five persons (whom I gave Roy Lislevand's Nouve Mousiche to) in the US who might agree with you.

Best regards,

Haim

Usually a morning music for me ('Boccher' means morning in Hebrew and I can't argue with that), played now, after some rain and before darkness.
