What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

And then to something quite different. I have just finished listening to this 3CD-set with Rachmaninov's symphonies, and I can't help thinking that these are a bit underappreciated. You mostly hear about his piano concertos and the piano music and general, but these symphonies are really nice; especially I like no. 1 and no. 2.

The king of Colombian salsa music, Joe Arroyo, and a hit collection "Echao Pa'Lante". I'm suddenly back in the streets of Cartagena memorizing all the beautiful Colombian women
. Lovely stuff!

Huw,

Perhaps you can get a copy in NY and bring it to Chicago?...
Do you have that one? How about you, Stefan, Adrian?
Regards,
Haim
It's been ordered, and on it's way on the back of the caiman...

Haydn 103 from Davis and the Concertgebouw (thanks again for recommending this set Fredrik).
Earlier it was the news quiz on Radio 4 (am I the only one who is glad to see the back of Simon Hoggart?) followed by Mackerras and Beethoven on Radio 3.

My first Zep album as a impressionable teenager finding out that you weren't supposed to like Zep/Purple but also be inspired by Pistols/Siouxsie/Clash et al. The club i went to when i was 15/16 you were either a punk or a Heavy. I headbanged to Punk and pogoed to Zep. That confused the b*****s.
Crackin album
Enjoy
Have you got this it is crackin. Saw them both nights at Knebworth.
