What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Yes, need to go the Kleeve and Dusseldorf is nearest. So looking for any recommendations in/around the old town.
The "NH City Nord" is not too far from the center and modern style with a nice lounge type bar.
"Steigenberger Park Hotel", if you like it classy.
"Radisson SAS Hotel" is neat
"Innside Premium" on the other side of the river
would be hotels I stay(ed) in or know.
cheers

Khomsa is the only Brahem's album which I consider to be only.. comme-si, Khom-sa.
The individual tracks are good, but you have to be ready for shifting moods, since the music has been composed for different films and plays, mostly Tunisian.
A little uneaven for me.

Haim

"Lontano" by the Stanko quartet.
Not easy to get "earthed" after seeing the fabulous "Das Parfüm" - based on the even more fabulous novel by Patrick Süsskind in the movie theatre.
Is that already out elsewhere in the world ? In the States ? Go and see it ! A rare example where the movie reaches out to the books quality.
cheers

Stefan,
It has been years since I saw a good movie at the theatre. By the way, Stanko will be in town in two weeks. You are invited.

I picked up the Live album for £2.99 today - I've got unplugged but nothing else. Need to investigate more!quote:Originally posted by Diccus62:![]()
You got this Steve, bought it awhile ago for about a tenner, now about £16, still good value. There is also a 10,000 maniacs box set for about same price

Thanks Stefan - I know Steigenberger from other places, so I'll have a look at that. A bit of "class" that's what I need

Crackin record - Rehab, sounds like old soul but is absolutely NU music. Major star 4 the future diccus reckons. Smart, intelligent, off the map. She don't need no rehab, no, no, no

Thanks for the invitatiuon, Haim...
Seeing Stanko twice within four weeks might be a bit too much, though. I hope for you that the venue is equally good as the one we've seen them in !

First up Wilco - Kicking Television Live in Chicago
Now easing my way into Sunday evening with Elgar, du Pre shining brightly and sadly (if that is possible) with the E minor Op.85; in between LSO - Cockaigne Op.40 overture and Janet Baker - Sea Pictures Op.37.

Excuse the laziness on my part - I haven't come across this album / box set - would you mind letting me know when it was released and what it comprises - cd / vinyl only or both?
Thanks

Ten Years After
Posted on: 01 October 2006 by Ian G.

I'm sure I haven't played this piece of the black stuff in the last 20 years until today! Shame on me, this album contains some real gems, like Lady Eleanor & Winter Song
