What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Goldfrapp "Supernature". My favourite Goldfrapp album and it sounds really excellent on the stereo. She is a fascinating woman as well.

Good morning Haim!
Indeed a great loss.
Most of all now when italian directors must face the fact that this country is becoming the "soap opera land".
Cheers!

Gian, good morning.
I ordered 'Il Mestiere delle armi', but they are not sure they can get it on DVD.
I saw this week the new film 'The Departed' which is a re-make of 'Infernal Affairs', a movie that takes place in Honk Kong, and which you should definitely see.

There is a nice scene in the movie where the main character is shopping for a high end sound system, and there is a real discussion of cables, amps and speakers, just as you do here.
Regards,
Haim

Puccini "Madame Butterfly" with Karajan and Maria Callas at La Scala, Milano, 1955. There is beauty in this recording; even if it didn't come with the libretto (Naxos). I haven't seen it live either, but now I would like to. Anyway, I doubt I can experience it live with someone possessing an emotional rich voice as that of Maria Callas. The real star of this show!

Just finishing Jarrett's Carnegie Hall concert.
Has the potential to be an eternal statement (again). Great concert - with a bit of an hysteric audience, but who will through the first stone...
cheers

Hi Haim can you recommend any laid back cello jazz music. kind regards munch
Munch,
Charlie Haden has some excellent albums:
Evening falls / with John Taylor, piano
Non but the lonely heart / with Chris Anderson, piano
You also have great music of Bill Evans trios:
Waltz for Debbie
Moonbeams
I would start with those two:

Haim
