What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

I just heard live last week Kayhan Kalhor playing his kamancheh at the Old Town School of Music in Chicago.
I am sure you would have enjoyed it as much as I did.

you're a lucky soul.

It was issued in 1981 as a Soundrack of a documentary of the same name. Don't think it was issued as a CD, but the movie may be available on DVD or VHS. Very moving documentary of The King. Bought my vinyl copy on EBAY for about $10 shipped. A two Lp set. Some great live and studio Elvis from mid 50's to his last years.

A lot of Beethoven lately. Now symphony no. 2 and no. 4 from Karajan's 1963 cycle with the BPO. I absolutely like this beautiful playing, but I've read that he really excels in the odd-numbered symphonies. So I probably have something to look forward to.

Finally back home. thank god....
Third try with the new Branford Marsalis CD. This is SUCH a great piece of music making. Marsalis could do all the commercial bullshit of the world, yet decides to blow a horn of this kind. Chapeau !
cheers
