What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

No
Absolutely correct, glad to see no one was caught out by my trick question.
Undoubtedly it's "Rat Trap".

Private Dancer - Tina Turner
it's been a long time i was a real fan - 'till she said this will be her last concert...and than she came again and again.
having not listened to this cd for years it's still great.

Can't find picture. Too old, probably:
James Levine conducting Chicago SO, playing Schubert No. 9, recorded 1983.
My long time favorite. Many play faster. I think the cheerfulness goes away with speed. I may be wrong, though...
cheers

Ian,
to use some football parlance it's repaying a chunk of it's hefty transfer fee by the way it's portraying The Pixies.
hum varies a lot but doesn't seem to impinge.

The best rock song ever is probably Echo Beach by Martha & The Muffins, unless it is Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival, but the greatest rock ever has to be Save My Soul by Wimple Winch .... whereas the most fantastic rock n roll song is Eddie Vortex by The Steve Gibbons Band or is it Witch by The Rattles .... oh well (parts 1 & 2) when all said and done maybe it is Come Together - though my favourite is still She's In Broadstairs by HMHB.

Jewish middle-age music meets Flamenco meets Ladino meets Andalusia.
Have only recently read about this exciting musical approach, and ordered "blind". No regrets. Another facette in the world of music that had to be done and which is beautiful !
cheers
Stefan
PS: Haim, you know what you have to do. Huw, could be for you, as well. Adrian, not quite "Lagrimas Negras", but similar enrgy.

The big heavy rock name of the year, and I think it's quite good.

(after being to teh theatre seeing a Ballett called "Hommage to Queen"), now:
More serious stuff than the first one from the batch. Challenging passages, but equally welcome in my collection ! Marilyn Crispell is great not only on ECM...
cheers
