What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Moving over to

Aahh, less intellectually challenging, but WHAT A COMBINATION ! Double Bass, two guitars and Fluegelhorn. Imagine the possibilities, and you'll reach where this record has arrived...

PS: Haim, "Ein Russischer Roman" arrived, and started to grow on me...

Beethoven symphony no. 1 and no. 3 "Eroica" performed by Mackerras and the RLPO. Really nice; especially no. 1.

Going to see her next Sunday night supported by Teddy Thompson, really looking forward to it. Postponed from last year.

Mars Volta: Amputechture.

A pure rubbish.
A cool cover art and picture LPs, tho.

Garmarna "Vedergallningen". Folk rock from Sweden with an excellent female vocalist. Sometimes she creates a real fairytale atmosphere, or I imagine a pub in Sweden in the 18th century. I like it a lot and wonder if they have more good discs.

or I could kill you instead "

This is a raw, slightly unsettling album. A scary start to the Halloween Weekend. I love Albini's production - drums as they should be! and one of the 10 best Dylan cover's ever.

my all-time fav band from the Twin Cities. i'll never forget the night they opened for Dylan in '91 in Minneapolis, MN. that night the stars aligned and all was bliss. i was 16 and on top of the world.

R2 Keane doing a "live" session. I'm typing this so as to stay awake. What is it with these guys?
They even play 45s at 33!
