What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Truly a stunning live acoustic set from Nils and three of his brothers - a great recording too.

Peter my Naim dealer has come to my aid with a 282/supercap to demo.

JJ Cale is sounding mighty mellow at the moment as I do my least favourite chore of bookkeeping paperwork. Frown

Rory Gallagher - Calling Card

"The Road to Escondido" JJ Cale and Eric Clapton.
The best album from either of them ina very long time. On its third non stop runthrough here. Fantastic playing from both men and the extended band. with the late great Billy Preston on Hammond organ, Wurlitzer organ and Rhodes piano.

Sweet, sparkling, modern and ancient at the same time.
I believe Chopin must own a part of his inspiration to this composer.
Very good.
Thanks again Haim!

Ray Lamontagne - till the sun turns black, the fantastic follow-up to the mainly undiscovered "trouble".

Superb recording and Ray at his best.

Tony Joe Whit- Closer to you brilliant album apart from one track that sounds like a rock disco track.

William Elliott Whitmore- all 3 albums.

Good evening gentlemen!
I do consider this probably the best artist and songwriter this troubled country has.
