What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Her indoors made me turn off the Messiaen Turangalîla so now it is Keith Jarrett with Shostakovich's preludes and fugues. Not quite Nikolaeyava but not bad either.

I have been wondering recently if my system was lacking in the bass department. Listening to Massive Attack's Collected (greatest hits) has thundered that idea into oblivion!! Superb production on this remastered compilation.

I agree, Mogul. We were listening to it again late last night and as a long-time fan I find it's the best CD she's done since Café Blue.
And as usual, it sounds gorgeous, which is not a bad thing in itself.

This great old man drives me to tears (well, almost) with his well controlled energetic tone, full of a life time experience. Man, has this fellow the blues... His son, OTOH...
cheers

I'm expecting still a lot of spins of this one, until I reach a level of understanding appropriate for this. How graceful can one be that there is such thing as recording a concert. Having been there must be great but what have you really understood during these two+ hours ?
OK, rumbling (rambling ?) over,
Stefan
