What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Enjoying Margarita Escarpa 'Guitar Collection', Naxos 8.554197. various selections from Fernando Sor.
This is one of several Norbert Kraft produced guitar albums I've picked up at the respective Artists' concerts here. We're fortunate to have a nice little auditorium, seats maybe 250, so no mikes, no amps. Its good to listen to music that way from time to time, as a reality check against hi-fi obsessive-compulsive disorder.
At any rate, I was most impressed with Ms. Escarpa; a very special combination of passion and adroitness. Her 'Granada' was the most moving I've heard, and I've heard a few. Not on her CD, unfortunately.
enjoy,

I've been reading this of late and it's given me a completely different view of the Zep. I hadn't realised how prolific Jimmy Page was prior to Zep and that he recruited the others. I'm not one for rock books but love this and can't put it down
Clearly that is a book and this thread is about listening..........................so it led to the Brown Bomber

Paul Simon's latest effort - some lovely sounds throughout though I'll need a few more listens before being convinced.

PS Diccus - I was in HMV yesterday and came across a 200g Classic remaster of Houses of the Holy - if it had been £20 and not the £30 they were looking for it, I would have snapped it up. I have II on 200g and it is awesome.

Earlier this evening Brahms German Requiem from Tennstedt and the LPO - quite wonderful, I don't know why this (the filler on the quite excellent Jochum Brahms 4) has sat on my to be listened to shelf for quite so long.
Then middle period Mozart symponies (early to mid 20s) from Bohm and the BPO.
Now Beethoven's symphony 5 from Jochum and the Bavarian Radio SO.
regards, Tam
