What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

HI Haim two album covers that are works of art, can you tell me what the music is please? wet and cold and windy here .Has your snow gone ? kind regards stuart

Stuart,

Andalusian music was developed in southern Spain by Moslems from North Africa 500-1200 years ago.

You can sample the excellent world music and enjoy the art work here:

It is not so bad in Chicago and so far we had only one day of light snow. I am fortunate since I am left with a lot of unfinished yard work.

Regards,

Haim

Robert Schumann: All four symphonies in a row!

Not such a marathon as it might sound with such fresh and lovely music as this!

I was testing copies of out of copyright recordings of some splendid old performances from Boult and the LPO, which really should not be languishing, unavailable, in the vault. These readings are a powerful corrective to the idea that the scoring is thick and the music full of weaknesses!

In Boult's comprehensive readings the music courses with vigour, and poetry, and the scoring shows fantastic clarity and colour.

Off to bed now though! Fredrik
