What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

It was O.K. Munch. Before dinner I was told that 45 million turkeys were being eaten on Thanksgiving in the US and I kind of lost my taste for the bird. The rest of the food and the company (friends) were very good.

Munch, It is indeed an ear. To give a Wikipediastic answer "The band's associate Storm Thorgerson originally suggested a close-up shot of a baboon's anus for the album cover photograph. The band informed him via an inter-continental telephone call whilst on tour in Japan that they would rather have "an ear underwater", which was used as the basis for the final design (with slight colour differences on the original US and Canadian issues of the album)."

I think the baboon might have been more fun:

Due most probably to the time of year, and interest in this cd (3CD SET) HMV have now banged up the price to £17.99
MERRY CHRISTMAS HMV.

New one from Damien Rice. If you liked the first one you'll like this too. Wonderous backing vocals again from Lisa Hannigan - I could listen to a whole CD of her solo, if such a thing existed - which I think it doesn't Frown

Dear Haim,

How are these performances of the Chopin waltzes? I have read some very favourable reviews on the Tharaud CD. However, so far I only have Dino Lipatti's version in my collection.

Best regards
