What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

sorry, i don't understand. are you saying he sucks as a conductor? if so, i am interested, as a Mahler novice, in recommendations as i'm on the hunt for a complete works box set. i realize he's a one-trick pony and a cultural oddity of sorts - that's what led me to buy it in the first place. i just picked up No. 1 with Horenstein/LSO on vinyl today.

just bought this today. a bit of a let down considering i loved "The Milk-Eyed Mender". the songwritting is first rate, but the string arrangements are just a cacophonic mess - disjointed, forced, poorly mixed and all together distracting.

I have been on hold for 15 minutes, waiting to talk to Apple's tech support, listening in the meantime to their horrible rock music (no idea what it is).
Instead of calming music to ease the long wait, they choose to rattle you more with some banging...

kuma,
i bought this on your reco - awesome and thanks!

regarding DJ T's "Philly" - my poor nait and intro2's were sweating a bit but never missed a tight, juicy beat. i think the bass must go down to 0 HZ/DC or something Smile.

John McLaughlin's - Montreux Concerts (17 CD boxed set). Listening to the CD's from last weekend.

Love this boxed set. If you are thinking of buying this set, check it out on abstractlogix.com, the cheapest i've found.

Halfway through, I'm not sure I can take much more of it to be honest.
