What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Ciao Haim!
Just "dismantling" the room with everything inside.
Or dust will reach my knees soon!

Kuma,

Are you listening to designs again?

You should have one of those machines which please the eyes as well as the ears.

Gian my friend,

I am doing some cleaning myself. There is nothing to do outside unless you want to play with 15 inches of snow and sub-zero temperatures.
After I am done I might sit and explore Photoshop which I installed recently. I think Kuma is in a dire need of fresh images.

Keep up the good work and get this ultimate Quator.

Started the day with the ETERNAL "Trinity Sessions", then lots of Ry Cooder (happens, if you store your CD's alphabetically...)

Later, tons of hip-hop (in a horrifying dance movie my daughter took me to...)

Now, the cosy part of the evening can start...

cheers
Stefan

Just bought (and listened to) the DG Quatuor, and was quite underwhelmed. Should I get the Boeykens version, too ?

???

Sorry for all the underwhelming. I heard the DG once, two years ago and I remember being left with a positive impression.
The Boeykens Ensemble plays it very much to my liking.
I would give it a chance and time, Stefan. Hear the DG three or four times. I don't think it is the easiest music in the world, but the magic is right there for me.

Regards,

Haim

Gian,

Why do you have to stay all this time at home? I hope you are O.K..

John Zorn is too much for me for most of the time. Tell me how you find him.

It is not only that music heals, but I believe that the more doctors we see, the sicker we become.

Take care,

Haim

As my granny was use to say: "it's only a matter of men and here we have men that have no matter".
Time will tell!
Ciao Haim and thank you!

Doris Duke "I'm a Loser: the Swamp Dogg Sessions...and more". Exquisite soul music.

Haved moved on to "Overnight Sensational", Sam Moore on Rhino. Great voice, very well recorded. Some luminary duetters too: Springsteen, Steve Winwood, Paul Rodgers, Sting among others. Good stuff.

Egg by Egg

Bulb
While Growing My Hair
I Will Be Absorbed
Fugue in D Minor
They Laughed When I Sat Down at the Piano
The Song of McGuillicudie the Pusillanimous or Your Socks are Hanging in the Coal Cellar with Thomas
Boilk
Symphony Number Two featuring movements one, two, three and the previously unreleased four
Seven is a Jolly Good Time
You Are All Princes

Sometimes the titles are better than the music, but it is highly listenable - Egg was called Uriel and Steve Hillage was in the group, but he left to form Kahn (Space Shanty), so this record has no guitarist, but it is none the worse for that.

Have no comparison, but music wise, this is nice. Not at all audiophile, but still nice...
