What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Tony Iommi is on the cover somewhere - he was lead guitarist before he joined up with some fellas called Ozzy and Geezer (what ever became of Black Sabbath). Velvet Fogg are a little bit Vanilla Fudge, a little bit Tornados and little bit odd ... Frank Wilson the keyboard player went on to join Warhorse.

Have just stripped kit down and moved it ready for some Xmas upgrade testing/listening. Letting it bed into new location with some good old 80s pop.

Stefan,

Actually I am wearing a large Mundi necklace..

Seriously, it was a year which was dominated by classical music for me, hence so many excellent recordings of Harmonia mundi.

I have seven Alphas on order, and I promise not to be so boring and post them as well.

I just went back 4 pages and checked my recent postings which are of: MA, Bridge, Sonora, Sony, NAIM, Alpha, and Hyperion.
It seems like I am supporting more than one label after all...

Stefan, I am sorry to report that after 5 listenings to the new Haden I am still not sure about the music (the recording is very fine). At least, you cannot blame me that I am not trying.

Best regards,

Haim

There's one thing I hate amongst friends, and that's blind agreement. In that sense, your hesitating is worth much more than a head nodding (with doubts in your mind).

As I said: I'm biased, because I love (almost) everthing where Haden is involved (yeah, HH, even that other Helium something album you don't like - which is fine...). This last one because of it's utter lightness.

In an effort to try to undertsand why/if I must keep the Hi-Line I've borrowed from my dealer:

Jarrett - Out of towners
Jarrett - My Song
Forcione - Live !
Trovesi / Coscia - Round About Weill
Wispelwey / Lazic - Shostakovich, Prokiviev, Britten: Cello /Piano Sonatas (brilliant CD...)

cheers
Stefan

Isn't that the Cremona (I guess Stradivari) instrument that has been kept in a bank until it was almost ruined, and that is now taken out for some playing, every now and then ?

just wondering,
Stefan
