What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Glad you are enjoying it, what in particular was pushing your buttons? Been off line for a few days spending time in another of your favourite pubs up the coast, the Ship at Newton. Six pints on New Year's Eve lunchtime with mates, set the tone for the rest of the day!

It's early days, have only listened to first 2 discs so want to have a good feel for them before i put pen to paper. Liked Joe Sample track though and obviously John coltrane on 2nd disc. Will get back to you by email when the fog lifts.

What happened to giving your liver a rest Eek Oh for the joys of a few pints of real ale in the Ship, sounds like heaven (swine Winker)

last weeek with keith jarrett: from his old scandnavian quartet (with garbarek): "My song", "personal mountains", "nude ants", then his famous trio recordings: "changes", "changeless", "always let me go", "tribute", "Sun bear concerts", his solo works: "koln concert", "vienna concert", "bremen/lausane", "radience", "la scala" and of course "the urvivors suite" with great dewey redman, charlie haden and paul motian. I had many more KJ cd's but in the last week I was able to listen only those.
Right now I'm listening of course K. Jarrett from first ECM dvd - "Tokyo Solo" - great music - one of the best I have heard in 2006.
Best for all,

Joan as Police Woman - Real Life; on vinyl and quite interesting, love the song with Antony (without the Johnsons)

Was Marianne Faithfull - Come my way (a Russian pressing on 180g vinyl) and Vashti Bunyan - Just another diamond day. Both a bit whimsical and too close to distortion, will give them a wash tomorrow and see whether that reaps any rewards.
