What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Geoff - Five Leaves Left would sound great to me on an iPod at the lowest bit rate - it is an incredible album. Enjoy your vinyl version which must be absolutely superb.

Beautifully put, if I may say so.

Thanks Ian.
English is not my mother tongue, and at times I struggle to express myself properly.

What isn't here to like? A great picture, a warm desert climate (-12C here now) and some perfect music to ease you into an unwinding mode.
Regards,
Haim

After another glorious day at the orifice, Bach will be my soul's balm before sleep...

My first LP in English. Bought it in the early sixties and had no idea what the guy was singing about. The following year we started taking English in sixth grade.

Dear Haim,
Happy days! I was not old enough to buy records, but I remember the music! Fredrik

Thanks Fredrik.
In those days I clearly was an active member of the cliff Richards camp. Unfortunately, most of my friends belonged to the opposing camp of Elvis Presley. We used to spend days arguing about who was a better singer and who made better (silly) movies. Miraculously we were abaile to maintain our friendships up to the present, though these days we take more pleasure arguing about politics.
Best regards,
Haim

Dear Haim,
Being a bit of soft conservative [MacMillan, and the consensus approach: One Nation Toryism], I am find myself at once both more moderate than any of the British politicians, who all want a nanny state, but also upset by the apparent attempt to offer no choice between the right and left, so I draw little comfort from politics in UK these days.
I have a nice thread on British miliaty expenditure, which thankfully has avoided any degree of heat so far! Have a look if you like.
The Bach continues [Suites now], and some very fine Vodka. I have a big day tomorrow to face off, and I have never yet found that going to bed early in these circumstances helped one tiny little bit. Two days hence is hell, but that IS Friday!
ATB from Fredrik

Hello.
I'm listening to this splendid-looking chap holding the dangerous flower:
That's Dr. Gopal Shankar Misra. He was one of the world's leading veena (that's a sort of lying-down sitar, played with a glass ball) players, and the music's superb (if you like Indian classical music).

what am I listening to right now ?
Well, the roaring storm with thunderstorm, rain floods and wind (100-150 km/h) plus the fire, ambulance and police sirens all over the place in my hotel in Hannover, North of Germany.
scary...

Thank you.
I'm not sure this will cross cultural borders, but I was thinking of a certain film, Carry On Nurse, Joan Sims, and a daffodil.
