What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Another vote for Alpha and their repertoire. I've learned about Kapsberger from L'Arpeggiata and Hille Perl. Great music.
cheers

God forbid you ever post The Stone Roses...I shall have to invent a new classification of respect...lol

And if i can just suggest this:
Much more better than the "Interpol" stuff.
This album deserves more than one chance in my humble opinion.
Pure british power!

That's it - I have it on vinyl from way back. Unfortunately, I didn't buy the first two albums and, as Kraftwerk seems to disown its first three albums, I guess there is little chance we'll ever see CD re-masters.
Hi again ROTF!

Gianluigi,
You are most welcome anytime, I've seen your taste in music and it is most excellent.
Currently Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
This has not been on for a while, but how can you fail with a song like Holidays In Cambodia!
Regards
Nic

Carla Bley - The Very Big Carla Bley Band (I have a sneaking suspicion that, like Escalator over the Hill, which I keep meaning to track down a copy of, it has inexplicably been deleted).

Thanks a lot Nic!

Now i must say that i have two reasons to say i like this thread.
The first one is that i like the way people share their tastes and musical moments.
The second is that it helps me to remember things that seem to have lost in the far depths of my consumed brain!

Dead Kennedys!
Good.

This could turn into a marathon session or, more likely, a series of sessions...

Peter,
I know what you mean. SWMBO has just returned though and is "on call" tonight so volume levels have had to lowered.
Was JJ Cale - 5
Now Dollar Brand - Zimbabwe

Huw,
I always liked Maisky, especially when he is doing French music. It would be interesting to compare this disc to my Nonesuch where Sitkovetsky arranged the Goldberg variations with a larger ensemle of strings and which I find to be excellent.

Six piano sonatas written over 40 years period (1947-1988). Difficult and challenging music. My third spin of the disc.
