What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

On Vinyl. How does he manage to sound like he did on BOTW? The years may never have passed.

Does that have much that isn't on the soundtrack CD?

Tam, I believe so. I think it depends on the version. I just like Seu Jorge and have several of his albums, which is how I came to this rather than via the film.
This afternoon has been Menhuin and Kempff, Beethoven violin sonatas (vinyl)

Gian,
I went to see him years ago in Chicago. The guy insisted on singing strictly in English (with a very heavy French accent of course) and the results were comical to the disappointement of everyone. I felt like I was listening to some translation at the U.N. ...
Hope you are doing extremely well,
Haim

Mtuttleb,
I hope the concert is something other than more Russian music or otherwise you will be qualified to act as our Russian Cultural Attache...
I myself had one (Russian) this morning (Shostakovitch) and one yesterday (Galina Ustvolskaya).

Haim

Shostakovitch seems to be in vogue right now.
Have this on at the moment;
Violin Concerto No 1 & Sonata for Violin & Piano
It comes with a DVD Film about Shostakovitch as an included extra.

Dear Haim!

This vinyl i have comes from my mother old collection.
I remember it as one of the first records i've ever listened to when a child.
The melting french/italian voice makes of this record one of the most romantic and sweet combinations i have.
Of course i can imagine your feelings about that concert.
I can compare it to what i feel when i hear my italian boss tryin' to speak english in front of some dazed foreign customer!

I'm tryin' my best and it's not bad when i can flip through my records for hours!

I know you don't (and understand why) but i'm still waiting for a good snow storm to change the lanscape view outside my attic window!
The camera is ready to catch the "pup" first impressions!

Take care!

Well Gian,
Perhaps if you play Charles Aznavour's famous 'Tombe La Neige' the snow will come.
We are expecting another 12 CMs of the stuff tomorrow, so if you want to send the pootch here...

I'm very curious to see his reaction with the white "rain".
At the moment he's "sharing" 1 and half of the 2 parts of "my" sofa and feeling very good.
Thankfully till this moment he did not show any particular music taste!
