What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Gianluigi - I didn't know he'd done 32 CDs, but perhaps it has all the out takes - it must be one of the best sets available. The Singing Postman was truly an underated genius.

Haim,
I (like many other people) can't refrain from "reviewing" CD's and put my opinions on amazon.de. Pure craving for recognition and vanity... If you look for a CD that I like (no sense in writing bad reviews...), there's a chance that you read a comment that I've written. The reviewers are ranked based on the number of reviews and the feedback they've received. Top1000 means that you're amongst the 1000 "best" reviewers. There's also Top500, Top100 and Top10.
Working at it...
cheers

Stefan,
My mistake. I thought that you have reached the plateau after purchasing 1000 CDs from Amazon...
I cannot believe that they found another 999 guys that review music as well as you do. They should shave at least one zero from your title.

Miles Davis - Live at Carnegie Hall
Damn is this album good! Heard it yesterday night for the 1st time ever. Has anyone else noticed the poor quality of the recording (on the original Columbia pressing)??
Reg, +Blackforest.

Charles Lloyd, again: This time, it's "Hyperion With Higgins", the last recording Lloyd and Higgins did together (I think). Good stuff.

Nic,
Jack Johnson is one of Miles' greatest albums: fantastic stuff.
Currently listening to Field Commander Cohen (Live), Leonard Cohen.

Tam,
I know you are a big Miles fan, and I've got 25 or 30 of his discs on vinyl or CD, but I just cannot understand how this one passed me by until now!
Reading the liner notes this copy was only re-released this year (original released 1971). Literally just finished listening to track 1 (26:54 long) and moved onto track 2, but blown away. Bitches Brew +.

Stefan,
Looks like LLoyd in on a very high rotation in your house. I have most of his albums and the one I keep coming back to is Canto. Are you familiar with it?
