What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Rain storm outside and no feeling like going to bed.
Time to spinn some vinyl.
Sometimes i think about the day in 1995 when, unable to pay the last rent of my flat in Bologna and before leaving the city forever, i filled the car with
the hundreds and hundreds of my vinyls and reached a second hand records' shop where they gave me peanuts for albums that today are impossible to find.
Damn day.

Gianluigi - what Soft Machine album is that you were listening to - I don't recognise it. I really like Soft Machine from their early recordings with Kevin Ayers, Daevid Allen, Robert Wyatt and Mike Ratledge right through to the Karl Jenkins, John Etheridge, Roy Babbington and John Marshall line-up.
Many thanks Rotf
BTW: I love Ogden's Nut Gone Flake - it is one of the greatest albums ever - Lazy Sunday, Afterglow and The Story of Happiness Stan.

Thanks Huw.
The only Kodaly I have is the solo sonata for cello and the duo for cello and violin. It is excellent and I would love to expand my Kodaly collection. If you have any other recommends on top of Moon, please let me know (I prefere chamber and small scales).
Best Regards,
Haim

Good morning ROTF!
Well.................this is the first volume of their production that came out in 1969, one year after the first official release.
I have this link to a short story of the band.
http://starling.rinet.ru/music/soft.htm#Machine
About the sleeve.
As you can see and as you surely know the one i posted is not the official sleeve of the first album.
What i have is a french Barclay edition (Barclay 920082)
http://www.groovecollector.com/home2/
Make a query and you'll find it in the end of the list as "no title" edition but the album is exactly the same as the first edition.
There's a cd new editions that include the "4" and "5" albums.
My advice is not to buy it.
I did it and get really disappointed by the quality of the transfer.
Very flat.
The vinyl versions are very far better and envolving!
Hope i've been helpful.

Hi Kuma!
Who do you compare this Air album to "Moon safari"?
I have all the other Air relesases but can't feel the Moon Safary quality.
Thanks a lot!
