What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

On CD-

Richmond Fontaine 'Winnemucca' (in case you couldn't read the title on the piccie).
And
Both kindly given to me by Rasher (thanks, Rasher!) together with a couple more RF that I haven't been able to listen to yet.
Didn't know RF before and old friendship with GH renewed! Very enjoyable.

I better not listen to strings anymore this morning.
We are going this afternoon to hear a concert of three string quartets. I know Beethoven's will be fine, I know I am going to love Schumann's, and I know that Shostakovitch's will be a great character builder...

Geoff, I'm still quite unfamiliar with Carnegie (6-7 listens ?), but already think it is one of his strongest solo live works. Together with Köln and La Scala. Also, some (not all) of Sun Bear (6 CD) is great.
Ah, humbug... Buy Carnegie. You can't make a mistake. If you don't like the first CD, listen to the encores (and the raging audience) on the second - it will put a smile on your face, I think.
cheers

Jon Spenser Blues Explosion - Now I got worry.
These guys are far from virtuoso but they revel in the sounds guitar bass and drums can make.
Unrefined dirty rock and roll, great stuff.

I must confess, ROTF, that many times i've found your music contributions very far because of my ignorance.
But tonight i can share the feeling.

Hi Munch!
It's incredible how much they can do with only 7 notes.

I spent the last 4 months home and i'm listening to all the stuff left (never ever give music away!).
Sometimes daydreaming about some better stuff like sources and so on.
I wish that i could have all my old vinyls back but, as i wrote in other threads, somebody else is enjoyin' them.
An entire old BWM's boot filled of albums for some light banknotes.
Sigh!
I'm sitting and tryin' to understand what to do as i'm loosing my job (7 years in the bog).
Adam is right and went to France.
I expected (maybe it's only a commonplace) him to move to Tuscany.......................
Don't come to Italy guys, if you saw Trainspotting and remember the toilette in the bar.
My hi-fi is running like hell.
It's a Naim!
Despite my invitations local sound gurus didn't come to listen to my SBLs.
They wrapped into cables!

Thanks for kind post!
