What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Saw her last year and she did a couple of tracks from the album, one was class, one was weak (sorry can't remember names). What do you reckon?

There was a long thread about this CD some weeks ago. It has been an interesting journey for me. On first play these re-worked and spare performances of some Steely Dan classics were nice but weird. I think I was very conditioned by years of listening to the orignals. However with sporadic listens over the weeks they have all grown on me. Clearly the songs are intrinsically strong, but really one has to approach these as new works rather than cover versions. Once I managed to clear the originals out of my heads I came to like these very much Smile
