What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

If you ignore her stupid false American accent she does have a stunning voice.

Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik Karajan, BPO.
I suspect this is looked down upon by the classical congesenti as trivial, but the boy knew how to write a catchy tune....
... and some nights you just need simple, unchallenging pleasures.

Bought for £8 in HMV today.
Thanks to the forum (and Chris K) for visibility of this one. Makes a change from soppy girlie singers

Graham.

It's too long since I've spun this one.
What a truly superb album; the lyrics, the tunes, the playing and production.
An ever present in my all time top 10, one of the very best albums ever.

Excellent. have you heard Amaryliss yet?
Enjoy the gig.
Don't have Amaryliss but Storyteller, and like it a lot. Having Peacock instead of Helias would be even better, but you can't have it all...
cheers

Bobo Stenson, Serenity.
Had a big party on the drive-way this evening. It is the first time in three weeks that we see temperatures above the 0C. I even imagined that I was sweating..

Usual lack of imagination leads me back to Bach. Or perhaps I just like his music the best...
My lack of posts in this thread does not indicate a lack of listening as much as a realisation that the repitition of the names of Bach, Handel, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Sibelius, Mozart, and Walton might well seem a bit boring!
Mind there is quite a lot to listen to from these masters, and I do have a bit of Elgar, Schumann, Brahms, and one or two others to leven the loaf a little! I just realised that I have potentially put an order of priority on these composers, but not so. I do love Bach the best though...
Goodnight dear friends from Fredrik.
PS: I dare not point this out on the main page, but I now have a completely Naimless set. Sony CD player (second hand from a friend on the Forum) and (new £30) Sennheiser headphones. Music service in uninterupted! In fact better than any headphones I have had in the past!

Fredrik,
It is always good to hear from you, regardless of what you are listening to or how many times you are doing it.
Here is something that was at least inspired by Bach..
Best regards,
Haim

Dear Haim,
My favourite recording of the Goldbergs, at least on a Piano, was done by Nikolaeva!
Kindest regards from Fredrik
