What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Mozart Symph. 34 & 35 Concertbouw Orch., Harnoncourt, on a DIGITAL vinyl lp from 1981.

I quote
"Compared with conventional analog recordings it is now possible to produce completely faultless and authentic recordings:"

I hope the orchestra were suitably warned not to let the side down !

Hi Diccus!

The album came out in 1982.

Possibly one of the Springsteen albums i like more.
Cheers!

Hi Anthony!
Very good record that takes me back to late eighties.
You're lucky to be able to spin the vinyl version because, for what i can remember, it is far better than the digital version i have!
I took a look in the net and it seems that they made a single box of George Winston "Seasons".
I'm looking for the vinyl.
Cheers!

Some of last nights session!

Hi Gian,
I still enjoy the music of Windham Hill from the eighties. It was an exciting time with emergence of George Winston, Shadowfax, Michael Hedges, Mountreux and the rest. The vinyl was superior in transparency and detail to WH's CD transfers.

Regards,
Anthony

Hi Anthony!
Those were the years when digital came out to "let the world enjoy music without those bad vinyl noises and to have a product that could last".
After 27 years games are still open and the market seems like getting back on his steps (you can't share an LP on P2P etc etc).
I don't know what will happen but i think i'll start buyin' vinyl again.
Always against the tide....................
Smile
Cheers!

A wee gem dusted off from the back of the vinyl pile.

Tracey Thorn - A Distant Shore

Arrived today. Very early Everything But The Girl. Not surprising for a 1982 album.

Some great tunes. Yet another version of "I don't want to talk about it"

As I type, Codeine - The White Birch Minimalist quiet/loud stuff. Once referred to as slowcore I believe.

Simply sublime. Just right to kick-back and relax.
