What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Haim,

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm just about to order this, which seems to cover pretty much everything on DG label

Mark,

That is a lot of Michelangi. Please let me know how well he plays the German composers.

Regards,

So I haven't listened to everything yet but here are the first impressions.

The first Mozart was a bit of a turn off. I need to try this again some other time.

The emperor, concerto no.5 started off great and then seemed to get a bit lost further on in 2nd and 3rd movements

Brahms ballades, fantastic.

Debussy Images - great. Also children's corner

Preludes are growing on me.

Not had a chance to listen to the Chopin, other Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann and Schubert yet

Just listened to G. Carmignola late violin concertos from Vivaldi.

"Words and Music' John Mellencamp's greatest hits, disc 1. This guy is an under-rated American musical hero for me. Great songs, arrangements, lyrics, performances.
