What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Checked her website - US tour dates this Summer. Long way for me to go, though.

Jon Surman in his pre ECM time. Nice (but short) 1969 recording combining upcoming electric Jazz with Soft machine influenced, electric Chick Corea influenced, psychedelic influenced stuff. Not bad, at all. Goes down easy...
cheers

An evening of mainly old George Fredrik Handel [sic]!
The main fair was the Twelveth Concerto Grosso in B Minor, Opus 6, player by the Busch Chamber Players, with Adolf Busch and Ernest Drucker [solo violins], Hermann Busch [solo cello], and Merczyslav Horzowski [harpsichord], which is about the deepest music I know from the great man, and the Pinnock's reading of the Water Music on DG Archiv. The Concerti Grossi, Opus 6 from Busch is out on a splendid transfer from Pearl [Pavillion Records - a British independant label] from the US Columbia 78s.
Great music making on all sides. Fredrik

A CD that my son left in the CDX2. I think it's a piece of his own music, on a CDR. Actually, maybe I'm doing the proud Dad bit, but I think it sounds good. I'm totally amazed what one person with a Macbook, some software and some talent can produce! He'd be thrilled if you looked at
www.junkimunki.co.uk if modern dance music is your thing!

Apologies. That link seems to be wrong.

Now moved on to "10 days Out: Blues from the Backroads" Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Really excellent. KWS back to the blues from his out and out rock excursions.

Amy Winehouse' Back to Black. Incidentally, they tried to make me go to rehab - I said no, no, no.
p.s. CK let's have the right link, hmmn? I'd love to hear what your son's been up to.
