What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Inspired by the "best 2006 music" thread:
Ali Farka Touré / Ry Cooder - Talking Timbuktu.
Hey, if you wanna know about possible origins of the Blues, this could be a lesson worth learning.
cheers
Stefan

I am currently hooked on Belle & Sebastian, Dear Catastrophe Waitress produced by trevor horn.
Also, Santa bought me The Band, 5 cd box set of the former Hawks, Dylans backing band, etc and its amazing.
some of you may remember a comment made by Micheal Jackson about his song writing, he said it was like stepping into a stream, each time was different and unique..for me thats The Band, they seem to cross the great divide of american culture from negro railway slaves to fat cats...its like their own version of harry smiths, anthology of american music!

I'm listening to "Talkie Walkie" now, but still "All i need" remain a wonderfull song!

The one song I always have to listen to on "Talkie Walkie" is "Run" because of all the weird sounds
My favorite Air album is "Premiers Symptomes" - it always takes me back to when I was listening to it riding on a train through the French countryside.

In the car tonight:
Aguirre / Los Otros, Hille Perl / DHM
Music from Mexico of the 16-17-18 centuries. I liked this quota:
"We should also thank the Spanish Inquisition for keeping such accurate records of all the dances and songs which they forbade for being obscene and heretical...".
