What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Black Sabath / We Sold Our Soul For Rock 'N' Roll

I have to get rid of some documents. Can't think of a better music to go with the shredder..

Hi there Graham!
Yes.
The first listen was the curiosity.
The second i did expect more.
The third it's ok.

It's a classic EBTG record with their own ambient sound.
And yes, i still love her voice!

P.S. Just been listening to two very fine new acquisitions. The first from United Archives (whose wonderful issue of the Budapest Quartet's Beethoven should be heard by all) is part of a series of issues of George Szell. The first volume is Haydn - symphonies 88, 92 and 104 (at budget price and thoroughly recommended):

The next is the latest issue from Colin Davis's LSO Live Sibelius. This contains the second symphony and Pohjola's Daughter. The latter is really special, but the symphony is also very fine indeed and the disc is well worth picking up (on a cursory listen, I'd have said it was the second finest I've heard from the series after the disc of 3&7).

Hard one to describe this one I'll begin with good - a mixture of orchestral, movie-score music, a smattering of Zero 7 and Massive Attack. Anyhow I like it.

Album is good, very chilled and laid back, almost completely instrumental. Some might dismiss it as late-night smooth Jazz noodling.

In a different vein - Beulah Her CD is one of my recent favourites, I think you'll like it.
