What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

one of those horrible mid-eighties productions.

I had this on cassette way back when, it hasn't aged very well although there are a few good tracks. definitely not one for the "classic" thread.

Spot the mistake on the CD cover!

Grumiaux, Jacottet, and Mermoud, playing what instruments!

Great readings in my view, though I always look out to see if you are listening to Mozart, dear Ian!

Yes I spotted that typo some time ago - I dug this out inspired by your 'conversation' with Dean in the 'biamping' thread.

Bach is still a work in progress for me, each 15 second snippet is wonderful, but getting a sense of the whole is a bit overwhelming. Maybe one day. What I really like about this set is also the balance between the different instruments, often in the past I've had the impression that the harpsichord swamped everything, here the violin is allowed to come front and center.

Maybe Mozart later since you mention it. Clara H. with a nice claret!

Hi Seagull,

Just playing the Ltd Edition for the first time on the PC (1/2 way thru anesthetize). What do think of of so far? It certainly feels like a band production and a progtastic one at that. This will take numeorous plays to get whats going on. Might you be going to the Forum, Scottyhammer and I will be there?
