What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

"Anthem of the Sun" Grateful Dead, the HDCD as recommended by ROTF. Really great sound. Thanks for the recommendation!

How do the string section fit in here Stefan? Is it well placed and well paced?

Simple answer, Cyrene: No.
The intimate pieces are above avarage and enjoyable. Both the string "orchestra" and the synthy sauce mash up Danielssons tone, and lead to a kitschie result, at times.
Have flipped through it and shelved it, quickly...
cheers

That's a shame because with that stellar line-up....well, you could have some beautiful things happening.
I often think that about
this album. The brass interludes seem ill conceived and ill-advised.

Tunng - Comments of the Inner Chorus
Spun this a few times now and it is growing on me. Quirky folk with electronic elements. Recording is first class.

What do think of it so far? I'm just recovering from the previous 2 nights of PT in Cambridge & London. I'll review over on the 'last concert' topic. It's fair to say though that FOABP is astonishing 'live' though.
I picked up the John Wesley CD:
Live at Katie Fitzgerald's at Cambridge and listening to it now. It's an Acoustic set and sounds pretty good so far. His MySpace is
here.
