What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

It's like you lost a friend when you can't listen to anything. Always hated the feeling.

Gian,
I hope this is the one on your list, since it is by far his very best.

Ciao Haim!
Yes, that's it!
Better vinyl or there's a cd printed edition you can advice?
This record is great and the master recording makes it perfect

Anna Gourari playing Chopin's 2nd piano sonata. The famous concert I've been visiting, and had such a hard time to get a recording from (local radio was there), finally received a cassette tape, copied it to CD, after some mild "remastering". The veterans here may remember...
Stunning !

Freeman had his ups and downs. THIS is one of his best (and of his first) titles. Lately, he's done a nice one with "The Leaders". Also, his father - Von Freeman - knows to blow a horn. Recent titles worth while having:
The Improvisor
The Great Divide

Holly Cole - Holly Cole
Don't know. Can't get rid of that "audiophile" thing with HC, sometimes. That other CD with Tom Waits songs is so much more "dense" and "meaningful". Enjoyable, but what does it leave in you ? A bit like Antonio Forcione, at times.
ducking away,
Stefan

Inspired by your concert, Stefan.
If you really want to be inspired yourself, listen to Michelangeli play piano music of Ravel and Debussy.
