What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Two Norwegian Melodie for String Orchestra from my very last concert...
Good among a concert where I started non-too-well and survived. The best parts are performances I can revisit with pleasure.

Siegfried Idyll from Runnicles and the Dresden Staatskapelle (a few moments ago they were playing the close of Gotterdammerung - I can't wait for him to play this at the Proms this summer).
On the off chance anyone from Teldec is reading this, why on earth has this fantastic disc been deleted????
regards, Tam

Freeman had his ups and downs. THIS is one of his best (and of his first) titles. Lately, he's done a nice one with "The Leaders". Also, his father - Von Freeman - knows to blow a horn. Recent titles worth while having:
The Improvisor
The Great Divide
Von is also a frequent collaberator on Kurt Elling's recordings. Chico was a bit far out for me, but I will pick up this early title.

Dear Kuma,
As opposed to to sleeve cover which is a half frontal!
Myself I am rambling through some private recordings of my last efforts at playing. Both sad and amazing. I want to play the drums in a rock band, just to get some order into the tempo! Have you noticed the lack of discipline drummers show! Altogether too personally emotionally involved, without a team view...
Even the arch professionals, Dire Straits suffered from this in live performance...

Fredrik,
This cover was for the US release.
Sure... it helps...for sensitive Americans, I suppose.

US American "think" they are sensitive. No more naval gazing community have I had the misfortune to observe...
At once pompous and arrogant, they are also chickens of the first water! How long did it take for them to defend...?

I wonder how some feel when visiting italian museums and see all those naked statues.

Once, in Florence, i heard an old english speaking lady in a group exclaiming:"what a beautiful marble!".
