What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

As it says on the cover - discs 1 & 2

What's this like in respect to re-mastering quality and disc 2's content?

SJB

SJB - disc 2 is quite good. I am not sure at all about the remastering. The Waterboys are always pretty upfront and bright and the remastering IMO over emphasises that. I bought it primarily for disc 2. Great album though!

Chris did you buy the 461 Dlx set as the Hammersmith show on that is even better than the Rainbow comback?

My listening pleasure tonight (especially since the wife is away for 3 weeks to China courtesy of their govt)

José Gonzalez - Veneer

Recommended by a forum member - plain singing with a lonely guitar (and occasional hand clapping). Magic.

I have not played this disc for so long that I did not recognize any of the tracks.

I guess it is a good trick. Why bother buying new stuff? Just don't listen to your music long enough and it will sound all new.

Richard great choice. One thing though try and get a copy of the Japanese issue of this as it is soooooo much smoother sounding than the US or UK ones and IMO just makes it an easier album to listen to. As I always found it a bit fatiguing to listen.

SO that should be Joy Division then New order Big Grin

A sentimental retrospective listening session then Jono. I might join you later.

At the moment its Neil Young - Living With War 200g record. Stunning sound quality.
