What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Duality / Lisa Gerrard & pieter Bourke / 4AD
Love her voice and music. I think she did a couple of movie scores. Recordded in Australia in 1998.

Alanis Morissette - jagged little pill spinning away. I still love and hate her voice at the same time.
Still think You oughta know is one hell of a song though.

A bright recording is a distraction from a fine performance. I might be wrong, but I am left with the impression that DG used at least 17 microphones to record this one piano.

I have been going through some old vinyl and had a great day spinning discs. I am not sure how to categorise the Violent Femmes, but they make Green Day seem a bunch of rank amateurs.
Closing the evening with a duo disc on CBS (vinyl of course)with Itzhak Perlman and John Williams playing music by Paganini and Giulini

Huwge,
I have to check my record collection sometimes to make sure you have not made off with it.
Would not want the Blind leading the Blind to The Hallowed Ground.
